About the Garfield Weston Awards

The Garfield Weston Awards program was established in 1999 by the generous contribution and vision of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation. Administered by the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, the program is designed to recognize outstanding college-bound students who show a strong commitment to their fields of study and are interested in making positive contributions to their communities.

Entrance Awards

The Garfield Weston Awards program will distribute up to 25 Entrance Garfield Weston Awards to students entering their first year of college or CEGEP studies in Canada for use during the 2009-2010 academic year. Each Entrance Garfield Weston Award comprises a tuition waiver from a consortium college renewable for one or two additional years; an $8,000 stipend renewable for one or two additional years; access to summer program funding, up to $3,500; and mentorshipClick here for more information about Entrance Awards.

Upper Year Garfield Weston Awards

The Garfield Weston Awards program will distribute up to 25 Upper Year Garfield Weston Awards to students currently enrolled in college or CEGEP studies in Canada for use during the 2009-2010 academic year. Each Upper Year Garfield Weston Award comprises a tuition waiver from a consortium college renewable for one or two additional years; an $8,000 stipend renewable for one or two additional years; access to summer program funding, up to $3,500; and mentorship.
