Toronto, ON – The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce the 2007 class of Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship for Colleges (GWMSC) winners. Hailing from across the country, these scholars display a desire to better the communities in which they live, while continuing to excel at numerous Canadian colleges.

Established in 1999 with the generous support of The W. Garfield Weston Foundation, these prestigious Canadian college scholarships are awarded annually to talented students who show promise of leadership, a strong dedication to their field of study and a commitment to their communities. The selection process for these scholarships is the most intensive and personalized in the country. Applicants are assessed through both individual and panel interviews by volunteer leaders from the business and academic community.

This year’s class of 50 scholars may each receive up to $50,000 in scholarship funding, which includes a stipend, tuition waiver and up to $3,500 in funding to arrange summer experience projects in Canada or abroad.
